Best Damn Shop is a Wrap!

This year's installment of Best Damn Shop was our best yet. The park was packed all day long and the skating was the best we've seen so far. In the end Palace 5ive from DC takes the vaunted trophy home yet again (for the third time in a row....), followed closely by Pitcrew from MD, Venue from VA, and Another from NC. At the end of the day there were a ton of shops that really stepped up and represented, and we want to thank everyone who came down to support the event.

Special thanks to Bob Reynolds and the crew at Nike SB, Bob, Karin, & Emma from Red Bull, Jim T and crew from DLXSF, everyone at the Skateboard Mag, Mark from Blue Point Brewery, and Greg from Six Forks Pub for giving us the resources to make this event happen. And thanks to our celebrity panel of judges - Mike Sinclair, Bobby Worrest, and Connor Champion for their time, and DJ Spcl Gst for spinning the tunes.

UPDATED AGAIN - we just got word that in addition to the extra special guests we've already announced for BDSC, Theotis Beasley, Shane O'Neill, and Donovon Piscopo will also all be here to hang out for the contest. If you haven't marked your calendars and asked for the weekend off yet you are straight blowing it!

UPDATED - Thanks to our good friends at Nike SB we will have some special guests in town for this year's event - Ishod Wair, Justin Brock, Dan Murphy, and Bobby Worrest will all be at the park hanging out for the contest. That's right, the east coast's best damn skateboard contest just got even better!!

Yep, we are almost there. The dates for this year's BestDamnShop Contest are Friday October 26th and Saturday October 27th. Keep checking here and at the VU site for the latest details, and if you're shop is interested in getting involved this year simply click here to fill out the form. Let's do this!

Sorry for the hold-up, but the sponsors are on board, the park redesign is planned and we are ready for Best Damn Shop 2011! After the carnage from last year (with DC's Palace 5 taking the trophy home) we can't wait to see what everyone has up their sleeves for this installment of the best shop contest on the East Coast! Just like last year, if you've participated in the finals of any BDSC before, you're automatically entered into the finals on Saturday. If you haven't made it to the finals or ever participated before, don't worry. You're still welcome to come out, you just have to pay the $150 entry fee. Palace 5ive are Kings for a Year!!

In the best finals heat in BDSC history, Sean Gregoire and Justin Damer slayed the Project 58 course, barely edging out last years champs Gilbert Crockett and Jordan Bradshaw from Dominion. Here are the final heat results from Saturday, and be on the lookout this week for a complete wrap-up and more coverage. Also, local hero Connor Champion came away with the Best Damn Trick as well.

Qualifier Results

Last night was a blast and the skateboarding was amazing. At the end of the day the guys from Another Skate Shop in Carolina Beach laid waste to the new Project 58 course. Other highlights included 12 year old Austin O'Brien from 17th Street in Va Beach putting together an impressive 20 minutes of skateboarding and the guys from 3 Ride in Maryland leaving it all on the course but coming up just a bit short.
