Best Damn Shop Contest | East Coast Shop Skateboard Contest | October 21st and 22nd, 2011

About BDSC

The Best Damn Shop Contest started in 2006 as a way to get mid-atlantic and east coast skate shops together for a little friendly rivalry of sorts.  We called shops from Georgia to Delaware to compete, and Maury from Dominion in Richmond built the trophy for the winner (since dubbed the Stanley Cup of skateboarding by the legendary Jefferson Pang). The rest is history. Every year more and more shops have participated and more sponsors have wanted to be involved, to help make the Best Damn Shop Contest the coolest, invite-only shop contest on the east coast. In 2006 and 2007 host shop Vertical Urge took home the trophy, in 2008 Dominion in Richmond beat everyone out, and last year DC's Palace 5 took the trophy home.

The 5th Annual BDSC will be held over two days, starting on Friday October 21st and running through Saturday October 22nd. Following last year's lead, we have decided to have a qualifying event (on the 21st) to allow shops that have never participated before a chance to move on into the finals on Saturday. Of course, any and all prior participants are automatically passed through to the finals on Saturday.

Location:

Project 58 Skatepark in Raleigh, NC.  Located in-between I440 and I540 on Six Forks Road, Project 58 has been the host of the BDSC since the very first one.  Every year they revamp the streetcourse for the contest. If you need super-easy directions, just click here and let Google Maps do the work for you.

Format:

The Best Damn Shop Contest uses a unique format, with two riders from each participating shop competing in jam-style, bracketed heats. Think of it as a high-level free-for-all on the course. Most people feel the level of skateboarding during these heats is better than your typical professional demo.

Registration:

If your shop is interested in competing at the BDSC, please click here to head to the Registration Request forms.  One of our representatives will get back in touch with you asap.

Other Crap:

The contest is 100% FREE to watch. This is one of the coolest events on the east coast and shouldn't be missed by any skateboard enthusiast.
